Sampling procedure: The selection of the rolls to be inspected is completely random. Textile mills need a minimum of 80% of the rolls in a batch of cloth has been packaged, to the inspector to show the goods packet list. The inspector will be selected from the volume to be inspected. Once the inspector selected the volume to be inspected, the number of volumes to be inspected or have been selected for inspection of the number of volumes for any adjustment. During the inspection, no yardage of cloth shall be intercepted from any roll, except for recording and checking the color. All rolls of fabric inspected are graded and evaluated for defect scores.
Repeated faults.
1. Any repeated and/or recurring blemish will constitute a repeat blemish. A four point penalty must be imposed for each yard of fabric with a repeat defect.
2.Regardless of the number of points awarded, any roll with ten or more yards of fabric containing a repeat defect shall be rated as failing.
Full width defects.
3. A roll containing more than four full width blemishes per 100 square yards shall not be graded as first class.
4. A roll containing more than one major blemish per 10 linear yards on average will be rated as failing, regardless of the number of blemishes contained in 100 yards.
A roll containing one major blemish in the first three yards or the last three yards shall be designated as a failure. A major blemish will be considered a three or four point blemish.
6. If the cloth has obvious loose or tight threads on one woven edge, or ripples, wrinkles, creases or folds on the main body of the cloth, and these conditions cause the cloth to be uneven when the cloth is unrolled in the usual manner, such rolls shall not be graded as first class.
Width of cloth.
7. When inspecting a roll of cloth, its width should be checked at least three times, at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end. If the width of a roll of cloth is close to the specified minimum width or the width of the cloth is not uniform, then the number of checks on the width of the roll should be increased.
8. If the roll width is less than the specified minimum purchase width, the roll will be designated as a failure.
9. For woven fabric, if the width is 1 inch wider than the specified purchase width, the roll will be designated as non-conforming. But for elastic woven fabric, even if the width is 2 inches wider than the specified width, the roll will be designated as qualified. For knitted fabric, if the width is 2″ wider than the specified purchase width, the roll will be designated as failed. But for stretched knitted fabric, even if the width is 3″ wider than the specified width, the roll can be designated as qualified.
10. The overall width of the cloth is the distance from the outside woven edge at one end to the outside woven edge at the other end. The cuttable width is the width measured by removing the woven edge of the fabric and/or the stitch holes of the sizing machine, the undyed, uncoated or other untreated surface of the body of the fabric.
Color difference assessment.
11. The color difference between roll and roll and batch and batch shall not be less than four levels in the AATCC gray scale.
12. In the process of fabric inspection from each roll of 6 inch – 10 inch wide color difference cloth board, the inspector will use these cloth skin to compare the color difference within the same roll or between different rolls of color difference.
13. The color difference within the same roll from edge to edge, edge to center or cloth head to cloth tail shall not be less than four levels in the AATCC gray scale. For the inspected rolls, each yard of fabric with such color difference defects will be rated four points.
14. If the fabric under inspection does not match the approved sample provided in advance, its color difference must be lower than 4-5 grades in the gray scale, otherwise this batch will be rated as failed .
Roll length.
15. If the actual length of the roll deviates from the length stated on the label by 2% or more, the roll will be rated as a failure. The rolls with deviations from the roll length will no longer be evaluated for defect scores, but must be noted on the inspection report.
16. If the total length of all samples sampled deviates from the length stated on the label by 1% or more, the entire lot will be designated as non-conforming.
Jointed Sections.
17. For woven fabric, the entire roll may be made up of multiple sections joined, unless otherwise specified in the purchase contract, and if a roll contains a jointed section less than 40 yards in length, the roll will be classified as nonconforming. For knitted fabric, the entire roll may be made up of multiple sections joined together, unless otherwise specified in the purchase contract, and if a roll contains a jointed section weighing less than 30 pounds, the roll will be classified as non-conforming.
Bow weft.
18. For woven and knitted fabrics, all rolls of printed or striped fabrics showing greater than 2% bow weft and skew fold; and all rolls of wick fabric showing greater than 3% skew cannot be classified as first class.
Skew.
19. For woven fabrics, all rolls of printed and striped fabrics showing greater than 2% skew, and all rolls of wick fabrics showing greater than 3% skew cannot be classified as first class.
20. For knitted fabric, all wick fabric and printed fabric with more than 5% skew cannot be classified as first class.
Cloth odor.
21. All rolls emitting foul odor cannot pass inspection. Holes.
22. Passing a blemish that causes a break in the cloth shall be rated as 4 regardless of the size of the break. A hole-hole shall include two or more broken yarns.
Handfeel.
23. The feel of the cloth is examined by comparison with a reference sample. If there is a significant difference, the roll of cloth will be graded as second class and rated 4 points per yard. If all rolls fail to meet the hand feel of the reference sample, the inspection will be suspended and the score will not be rated for the time being.
